Charlotte Avenue fire in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Two men were rescued from a burning house in Youngstown Monday morning.

Crews were called to a house on Charlotte Avenue after flames broke out around 1:30 a.m.

Two men were inside the home, one was in a wheelchair. Firefighters helped both men out of the house. No one was injured.

The flames damaged the upper floors of the house and destroyed the roof.

“When Engine 2 got there, there were two gentlemen inside so they helped them get out. One guy was in a wheelchair. He is at a neighbor’s house,” said Battalion Chief Jimmy Drummond. “The fire was pretty intense on the second and third floor. It burned the whole roof off.”

Firefighters said the house is not livable. A damage estimate was not available.

A cause has not been determined.
