CORTLAND, Ohio (WYTV) – The Lakeview girls golf team is off to Columbus for their second try at the state title.
The team of five loaded up today headed for the Ohio State University Gray Course.
The Bulldogs are returning four starters from last year’s squad that finished 7th in their first ever state tournament appearance, and this year the team is even better. They won four tournaments this season, compared to just one a year ago.
Head Coach Mike Turco said part of their success can be attributed to the sense of family the girls feel for each other.
“They are just a great group of girls, fantastic girls themselves and phenomenal golfers,” Turco said. “We are just trying to build on last year and perform a little bit better.
The Bulldogs will have a practice round Thursday before teeing off Friday morning against Dayton Chaminade Julienne and Huron.
