Yo. ex-teacher arrested on child porn charges

Paul Rektor child porn charges

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police arrested a Youngstown man Wednesday on charges of child pornography, according to a police report, after an investigation led police to his computer.

The report states that Youngstown Police arrested Paul Rektor, 35, Wednesday afternoon. A YPD officer reported that he found Rektor’s IP address, which is a number that helps identify a computer when it logs on to the internet.

The report says the officer then logged onto a file-sharing network and that Rektor shared child pornography with him. The officer communicated with Time Warner Cable, which told him to whom the IP address belonged.

When police asked Rektor if he was aware there was child pornography on his computer he said yes and that his wife had nothing to do with it.

Rektor used to be a teacher at Youngstown Christian School and was laid off in June, according to the report. Officers arrested Rektor at his house in Youngstown, and he did not resist.

In a written statement, officials with Youngtown Christian School said there were no complaints by parents or students while Rektor was employed there.

“The board and administration hold the highest standard for student safety in our care. However, despite our vigilance at school, we do not know what people do in their private lives. Our hearts go out to his family and we pray for them,” said Michael Pecchia, Youngstown Christian Schools President
