CAMPBELL, Ohio (WYTV) – A construction project in Campbell has drivers dodging obstacles. The work was supposed to be done this month but that deadline looks like it won’t be met.
Brent Kovacs with the Ohio Department of Transportation said the project’s completion date was pushed back early on because of last-minute changes when it came to replacing culverts on Wilson Avenue.
Those decisions were made after receiving heavy rains in July and August. Crews monitored where the water was flowing and how the culvert was handling it.
Despite the changes, the project still remains on budget at $1.8 million.
“What we did was add some outlets to the culverts so that the culvert wouldn’t flood,” Kovacs said. “This gives the water more area to get out of that culvert and drain out.”
Crews are finishing the intermediate layer of asphalt this week and surfacing is expected to begin next week.
Kovacs said all the work should be done by the middle of November.
