Sheriff’s Office providing free credit card shields

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office is helping residents keep their identities safe with a giveaway.

The office will be providing fee anti-theft credit card shields to Mahoning County residents to help protect them from possible consumer fraud.

The shields are designed to help safeguard information imbedded in the RFID chip on credit cards, debit cards, enhanced driver licenses, and U.S. passports.

Sheriff Jerry Greene said with today’s technology, it is imperative consumers take every effort to protect their financial information.

The shields can be picked up the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, 110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
