Man charged in stabbing, assaulting officer

BELOIT, Ohio (WYTV) – A stabbing in Beloit ended with one man in the hospital and another making a trip to the Mahoning County Jail.

Officers with Goshen Township Police were called about 11 p.m. Monday to 17995 Third St. in Beloit on a report of a fight.

When they arrived, one of the men had been stabbed with a “folding knife,” according to a police report.

The victim was taken to Ultman Hospital in Canton.

The suspect, Brian Spinks, 29, of Beloit, resisted arrest at the scene and kicked a police officer in the chest.

Spinks is charged with felonious assault, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct. He is currently in the Mahoning County Jail awaiting arraignment scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m. in Sebring Court.

Police also confiscated drug paraphernalia at the scene and the suspected weapon.
