Officers complete virtual training in Springfield Township

Springfield Township police training

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WYTV) – Officers with the Springfield Township Police Department are going through a different type of training.

The program is through the Attorney General’s Peace Officer Training Academy. The entire 16-person force will complete both a virtual driving and firearms class Tuesday where representatives with the AG’s office gives participants real-life scenarios and see how they react.

“It is really exciting. Number one, it is free. The Attorney General has these throughout the state. They bring them to you,” said Mike Tablack, Springfield Township Police Department. “It just takes two hours of our time, and it is really good training.”

After the officers complete each scenario, they are briefed on their performance and actions. Beaver Township police will take part in the training on Wednesday.
