St. Paul has been a perennial power for over the past two decades. Coach John Livengood’s squad knocked off Delphos St. John’s in the 2009 Division 6 State Championship game, 24-21, to take the school’s first title.

This year, the Flyers have been difficult to defend as they’ve been able to top 41 points in all but two of their contests. The defense has risen to the occasion as well as they’ve shutout three opponents.

The Mustangs are making their first appearance in the playoffs in seven years following their Northeastern Athletic Conference (NAC) championship season which was capped off by a 27-14 win against Pymatuning Valley last Friday. In that contest, Brian Leipply gained 187 yards on the ground.

Mathews has enjoyed a five-game win streak since beginning the campaign with a 2-3 record. The Mustangs was unable to hand a team who finished the season with a winning record a loss. They were 0-2 in those games (Western Reserve Academy and Lucas).
