Noteworthy
Last week, the Cubs redeemed themselves for a week one setback at the hands of Plymouth (40-22). Lucas’ Rueben Luna connected on a game-winning 25-yard field goal with just under a minute remaining to give his team their first playoff victory in school history (37-34). The Cubs fought back from a 28-7 deficit early in the third quarter. Lucas was able to grind out 339 rushing yards as a team.

With 5:09 left in the 3rd quarter, Western Reserve trailed Toronto by 5 points. However, the Blue Devils outscored the Red Knights 15-0 over the games’ final fourteen minutes to secure a 27-17 win. Toronto was held to just 160 yards of total offense while Reserve gained 381. However, Western Reserve gave the ball away 3 times.

Senior quarterback John Clegg threw for 98 yards on 10 of 20 (1 TD) and ran for another 119 (1 TD). Joe Falasca caught Clegg’s touchdown toss but also came up with a few momentum shifting plays on defense as finished with a quarterback sacks and 2 ½ tackles for a loss. The Devils finished 9 of 13 on third downs while Toronto was only able to manage 1 first down on 10 tries on third down.
