WARN notices sent to Bottom Dollar employees

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Worker Adjustment and Retraining (WARN) notices were sent out to employees at the Valley’s four Bottom Dollar stores that will be closing at the end of the year.

Three locations in Youngstown, 890 E. Midlothian Boulevard, 2699 Glenwood Avenue, and 3377 Mahoning Avenue, and one location in Warren at 1756 North Rd. have all been purchased by ALDI, Inc. along with all stores in the greater Pittsburgh area.

The chain’s parent company, Delhaize Group, announced the store closings last week. The first stores in the Valley were opened in August 2013.

A total of 112 employees are impacted locally:

  • E. Midlothian – 32
  • Glenwood Ave. – 24
  • North Rd. – 26
  • Mahoning Ave. – 30

ALDI officials have not released any plans for the future of the stores, but did confirm in published reports that it plans to expand its locations from 1,300 to 2,000 by the end of 2018.
