Bazetta crews fight second fire at apartment complex

Fire in Bazetta Township, Ohio

BAZETTA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WYTV) – For the second time in one week, fire crews were called to the same township housing development.

The call came in about 7:45 a.m. Saturday for a fire in a unit at Ivy Hill Circle in the Arbors complex, off state Route 5.

When firefighters got there, smoke was showing, and they quickly extinguished the flames.

The fire was contained to one unit in the six-plex. One person lives in the apartment and got out safely.

The fire inspector and an Ohio Edison crew were called to the scene.

The cause is under investigation, and a damage estimate was not immediately available.

The apartment had a working smoke detector.

Last Sunday, multiple departments were called to the same development for a fire started by a space heater that tipped over. Damage in that case was minimal and no one was injured.
