Reserve pulls away from Lucas

Western Reserve Football

Orrville, OH (WYTV) – Despite a back and forth first half, Western Reserve pulled away from Lucas to win 42-21 in a Division VII Regional Semifinal Saturday.

The Blue Devils trailed 3-0 in the first quarter, when quarterback John Clegg ran in a one yard keeper to make it 7-3. Lucas regained a 9-7 lead on an 8 yard touchdown run by Mason Galco.

But in the second quarter, Clegg capped off a long drive with an 8 yard touchdown run to take the lead 14-9. The Blue Devils defense came up with a stop, when Joe Falasca recovered an errant snap on the punt for a touchdown.

Lucas scored again right before the half to make it 21-15, but Western Reserve generated too much offense in the second to run away with the victory.

The Blue Devils move on to the Regional Final next Saturday at 7 p.m. against Norwalk St. Paul.
