POLAND, Ohio (WYTV) — It’s beginning to look a lot like christmas in Poland.
The Poland Junior Woman’s Club kicked off the perpetrations for the annual Lighting the Village event downtown by decorating the town hall.
This year’s event will take place on Dec. 6 and will be feature caroling by local high schoolers, Christmas decorations, cookies and sleigh rides andnd of course, a visit by Santa himself.
Event coordinators said that each year they seem to get more and more volunteers.
“It’s a neat event. We have all the sidewalks lined with luminaries that we have volunteers set us. So we have a lot of people that are involved in that part of it. This is just part of getting the decorations up, but that night we have a lot of people to help out,” said event chairman Lauri Laplante.
This is the sixth year that Poland is holding the festivities and according to organizers, several more local businesses have signed up to be a part of the Lighting the Village event.
