Grove City rebounded nicely from a disappointing 5-17 finish during the 2012-13 season to a 15-8 mark last year and a playoff berth.

Don Fee enters his 25th season as the head coach of the Grove City Eagle basketball program. His top two scorers from a season ago have since graduated – Derek Turner (19.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.6 apg) and Foster Reznor (11.5 ppg, 2.3 rpf, 1.7 apg) – but he’ll rely on a pair of seniors in Danny Torok and Spencer Marnich. Torok has accumulated 432 points, 150 rebounds, 145 assists and 50 steals in 55 games played on the varsity level. Last year, Danny had a stat line of 9.0 points, 4.2 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. Marnich went from a sophomore who played sparingly in 14 games as a sophomore to a significant player on the Eagles’ team last year. Spencer scored 7.8 points and hauled down 7.3 rebounds while shooting 53.1% (69-130) from the floor. Junior Kaiden Young also returns after appearing in 14 games and posting a 4.7 scoring average and 2.8 rebounds. Kaiden’s classmate Brendan Record played in all but two games as a sophomore and finished with a 2.5 scoring average. Kyle Barger, a sophomore, saw limited action in 18 games as a freshman but will be asked to play more minutes this season.

Grove City will open the season on Friday, December 5 in the Kittanning season opening tournament.
