BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – The season of giving is here and local animal charities are in need of volunteers and donations during this time of year.
Blankets, toys and dog food are just some of the things on the Animal Charity Humane Society’s Christmas wish list.
“Winter time is very tough. We see an increased need. We take in more animals over the course of the winter. So, we will need all of those things,” Animal Charity Board President Mary Louk said.
Diane Less founder and president of Angels for Animals said animal helpers are always in need, especially during the holidays.
“People are really busy and they go out of town to see their friends and family at the holidays. So we can always use extra help around here cleaning and taking care of and picking up after the dogs and cats,” Less said.
Volunteer P.J. Kromer loves giving her time to the animals at Animal Charity.
“They just seem so happy to get out and be able to walk, and not be stuck in the cages. They just want a home,” Kromer said.
Adoption is also a big part of the season for Animal Charity and Angels for Animals.
There are many dogs up for adoption at Animal Charity.
