Pedestrian killed in Youngstown identified

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Youngstown man struck by a vehicle while walking along a road Friday evening in Youngstown has died and has been identified.

The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office said Robert E. Bacani, 65, of 3326 Dorset Ave., died at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Bacani was struck by a pickup truck while walking along Logan Avenue near Thornton Avenue on the city’s north side about 6 p.m. Friday.

He was visiting a friend and went to visit another friend down the street, and was struck on the way back.

The coroner’s office said an autopsy conducted Monday morning showed Bacani died of multiple injuries of the pelvis and a lacerated liver.

The crash is still under investigation.
