Poland girls win season opener

ASHTABULA, Ohio (WYTV) – The Poland Lady Bulldogs outscored Edgewood in the first quarter (21-9) en route to a 56-48 win. Bella Gajdos led Poland with 18 points as she connected on 2 for 8 from three-point distance and she also had 5 assists. Emily Melnek put together a complete game as she finished with 13 points (6-12 on field goals), 7 steals and 9 rebounds.

Edgewood was led by Iesha Niciu and Kaileigh Sloan who had 15 and 12 respectively.

Poland (1-0) returns to the hardwood on Wednesday when they welcome Struthers for their home opener. The Lady Warriors (0-1) will head to Hubbard on Wednesday.
