DUBOIS, PA (WYTV)- For the second straight season, the Hickory Hornets are headed to the PIAA AA Western Final after beating Tyrone 28-0 Saturday afternoon.
It was the defense that led the way yet again for the Hornets, putting Tyrone quarterback Garrett Hunter under pressure nearly the entire game causing turnovers and multiple sacks.
Hickory opened the scoring in the first quarter when sophomore Chuck Carr broke multiple tackles before getting into the end zone on a 56-yard touchdown run.
After going into the half up 14-0, the Hornets offense made a statement on their first drive of the second half. The long drive ended when freshman quarterback Luke Brennan found Andrew Pryts on the far side of the end zone to put them up by three scores.
Brennan and Pryts would do it again in the 4th quarter giving Hickory a comfortable win. The Hornets have a rematch of last year’s Western Final when they take on South Fayette next week.
