Local boy holds toy donation

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) —  A local second grader has done his part to make sure all kids have a merry Christmas.

For the third year in a row, Tyler Gallo has set up a cocoa and cookie stand outside his house. The seven-year-old is taking cash and gift donations for Toys for Tots.

His mother said collecting for less fortunate kids was Tyler’s idea, but it’s something his family has always encouraged, and not just during the holidays.

“We always encourage giving and we try to, you know, volunteer in other areas throughout the year where we can and so when he wanted to do something for other children, I just couldn’t say no,” said Tyler’s mother, Amber Gallo.

Gallo said Tyler makes most of the signs for the event, and is active in going out into the community to gain support for his cause.
