POLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – A Canfield man will get the chance to watch the NFL’s biggest game of the year live in Arizona this February.
Ed Kay was the winner of the Mahoning County United Way Super Bowl ticket giveaway. The winners were drawn at a fundraising event Tuesday evening at The Lake Club in Poland.
In addition to the two game tickets, Kay also will get free airfare and a four-night hotel stay in Phoenix. He also can opt to take $5,000 in cash instead of the Super Bowl getaway.
The United Way got the Super Bowl tickets with the help of the Steelers Alumni Association. Mahoning County United Way President Bob Hannon said the Steelers Alumni Association normally does the Super Bowl ticket fundraiser in an NFL city, but members decided to offer the opportunity in Youngstown.
Hannon said it helped that the agency sold all of its available tickets for Tuesday’s fundraiser. Each ticket was $100 and the United Way expects to make nearly $17,000 from the raffle.
The second-place winner was Alexa Zackasee of Austintown, who won $1,000. Ron Stoops of Boardman was the third-place winner and he won $500, which he donated back to the United Way.
