Niles worker charged with stealing from store

Police accused Marshetta Coleman of stealing from her employer

NILES, Ohio (WYTV) – An employee is facing charges after police say she stole from the department store she worked for at the Eastwood Mall in Niles.

According to police, Marshetta Coleman was seen taking money out of her register at Macy’s and stuffing the cash into her shoes and purse.

When the asset prevention manager confronted her, Coleman admitted she took the money because she was hungry, wasn’t making enough on minimum wage, and was going to get fired anyway.

Police said she then got up, walked out, and assaulted the manager when they tried to stop her. Store officials told police they have yet to determine how much money Coleman took.
