ORWELL, Ohio (WYTV) – Grand Valley won their second Northeastern Athletic Conference game of the season by dominating Southington, 71-43. The Lady Mustangs (5-2, 2-2) led at the half by a 43-9 count.
Jessica Vormelker connected on 9 of 11 field goals to finish with 20 points. Allie Holmes and Alexis Cassesa added 8 points apiece. Holmes also registered 7 rebounds.
Southington’s girls were led by Courtney Warnick (17) and Sara Baugher (13) who combined for 30 of their 43 points.
The Grand Valley defense held the Lady Wildcats to a 27.1% field goal percentage (16-59) and forced 30 turnovers.
Southington (0-8) will seek their first win of the season when they travel to Kinsman to take on Badger on Monday. Grand Valley will play against Edgewood next Friday.
