SALEM, Ohio (WYTV) – Threats made against U.S. Representative Bill Johnson have police from Salem and Washington D.C. searching for a suspect.
The United States Capitol Police are working closely with the FBI and Salem Police to find who made threats to Johnson over the phone.
Salem police got a call about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday from Daniel Halliburton, Johnson’s field representative and security director, regarding threats made to his office.
A report was made with the Capitol Police in Washington. According to that report, Halliburton said a man who lives out of town made the threats. Salem Police Chief J.T. Panezott said the person called Johnson’s office screaming. He swore at a staffer and made threats towards Johnson.
A member of Johnson’s staff referred questions to the Capitol police, saying they can’t provide any information regarding an ongoing investigation.
