December 29-30
Teams Involved: Farrell, Mercyhurst Prep, New Brighton, West Middlesex

Farrell’s traditional holiday classic has been regarded as one of the must-see basketball events in December in all of the state by many.

The tournament, known at the time as the Farrell Lions Club Tournament, played host to the Panthers of Overbrook in the mid-1950s twice. In the tourney’s most notable game – Basketball Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain scored 33 points in the 1954 championship game, a contest which Overbrook lost 59-58 to Farrell. Jim McCoy led the Steelers with 19 points. Farrell handed the Panthers their first loss in two years.
