Smock carries Jefferson past East

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Emily Smock scored 28 points in Jefferson’s 72-37 win over East tonight. Smock was one rebound shy of reaching a double-double (9 rebounds). The Lady Falcons (2-5) were outrebounded (27-26) and turned the ball over two more times than the Lady Panthers (22-20). However, Jefferson shot 79.2% (19-24) from the foul line and were able to connect on 43.9% (25-57) from the field.

Jessica Baker and Deanna Comp added 19 and 12 points, respectively, for Jefferson.

East (1-8) was led by Jaudey Bowers and Znayia Brown. Both had 9 points. The Lady Panthers finished the game by only shooting 25.4% (15-59) from the field and reaching the free throw stripe just 9 times (making 3).

Jefferson will play host to Badger on Tuesday while East will welcome Edgewood.
