BEREA, Ohio (AP) – Service plazas on the Ohio Turnpike are continuing the tradition of offering a free cup of coffee to motorists on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Various vendors at the turnpike service plazas will be offering one free cup of coffee from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday. The free coffee for turnpike motorists is a longstanding tradition.
Officials expect more than 3.7 million will travel on the toll road across northern Ohio by the end of the holiday season.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol and turnpike maintenance crews say they will be on the lookout for any hazardous or unsafe driving, especially on New Year’s Eve. Unsafe driving can be reported directly to the State Patrol by dialing (asterisk)990.
