Remember When: OSU’s Harris runs over BYU

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WYTV) – Buckeye coach John Cooper guaranteed a bowl victory in 1993. His team fortified their coach of that fact when they edged Brigham Young 28-21 in the Holiday Bowl. Ohio State’s senior running back Raymont Harris gained 235 yards on the ground and scored 3 touchdowns as the Buckeyes’ accumulated 330 rushing yards as a team. Harris was named co-MVP of the game.

The Cougars were led by their strong armed quarterback John Walsh, who threw for 389 yards on 25 of 44 attempts and 3 scores. However, down by 7 with under a minute to play with the ball deep inside of Buckeye territory, Walsh failed to complete a pass on four straight plays.

With the victory, Ohio State finished the year with a 10-1-1 mark and positioned them to close out the season at #11 in the Associated Press poll – the highest finish by an Ohio State team since 1986 (#7).
