Mission prepares for cold snap

The rescue mission in Youngstown, Ohio is preparing for an overflow of clients.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley never closes its doors and is offering a warm place for people to stay..

Executive Director Jim Echement says the facility is ready and has 30 extra cots with sleeping bags set up for the overflow.

Sunday night, there were 120 people at the mission, including 11 children who stay at the building on Martin Luther King Boulevard.

“We will probably see an influx of some people who have been staying in abandoned buildings if they can get here,” said Echement. “All they need to do is call the help hotline at 211. Transportation is provided in the evening hours.”

The mission is prepared for almost 200 people at its facility.
