Grand jury indicts man in beating of 4-year-old

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Trumbull County grand jury has indicted a Warren man on charges that he severely beat his 4-year-old daughter.

Tedy Mendez, 24, was charged with felonious assault and child endangerment.

Mendez is accused of beating the girl so badly that she suffered a fractured skull, broken elbow, a brain bleed and several contusions.

He is being held on $350,000.

Investigators believe Mendez and his girlfriend, with whom the child was staying for a visit, tried to cover up the assault by delaying the return of the child to her mother until the bruising wasn’t so apparent.

While the assault happened in Warren, Mahoning County Children Services Board CSB is involved in the case because the girl’s mother lives in Youngstown.
