YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Authorities have re-opened Interstate 680 after a multiple-car crash closed part of the highway Wednesday morning.
The crash involved five cars and happened sometime after 9 a.m. Wednesday in the southbound lane of the interstate, between Market St. and South Ave. Police believe the first car spun out and that the rest of the cars crashed while trying to slow down and avoid the first car.
The interstate was re-opened by 12:15 p.m.
Police are directing motorists who are traveling south on I-680 to get off the highway at the Market St. exit. Southbound lanes of the interstate are closed in the area as of about 11 a.m., and police are warning drivers that roads are slick.
Emergency workers took two people involved in the crash to the hospital with minor injuries.
