COLUMBUS, Ohio (WYTV) – One person has been shot and killed by police officers at Port Columbus International.
According to WBNS in Columbus, the shooting occurred outside in the departure area.
The suspect was in the ticketing lobby prior to security checkpoints.
Police said a fight occurred between a tow truck driver and an unknown person just prior to the shooting. There was also a call for an officer in trouble just before shots were fired.
Initial reports suggest none of the officers involved were injured.
Kim Snell of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority says the shooting happened at about 1 p.m. Wednesday on the north side of the ticketing level. She says flights are arriving and departing normally at the airport, which offers more than 140 flights a day.
