Coitsville robbery suspect indicted

Coitsville attempted robbery 9

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A New Castle man who Coitsville police said turned himself in after seeing his picture on their Facebook page was indicted Thursday by a Mahoning County grand jury.

Chad Weinschenk, 37, is facing charges of robbery and aggravated robbery, both with firearms specifications. He remains at the Mahoning County Jail on $100,000 bond and no court date has been set yet.

On Dec. 9, police said a man walked into the Tic Toc Food Mart, waited for everyone to leave the store, put his hand in his jacket and simulated a weapon, and then demanded money from the register. The clerk hit the panic alarm and the man walked out.

Police posted pictures of the suspect from the store’s surveillance video on the Coitsville Police Department’s Facebook page and Weinschenk turned himself in less than 12 hours later, police said. He told police the getaway driver told him to rob the store, but it is unclear if anyone else was involved.
