West Branch doubles up Minerva

MINERVA, Ohio (WYTV) – After the first quarter of tonight’s matchup between Minerva and West Branch, the Lady Warriors led by only one (12-11). However, over the course of the next three frames, West Branch extended their lead to 34 points in the end as the girls from Beloit topped the Lions, 68-34.

Melinda Trimmer was one assist shy of a double-double (23 points and 9 assists). Trimmer was joined by Pavin Heath (18) and Catie Hahn (11) in double figures. Heath also had 4 steals and 5 boards. Kaylee Manning also put together a strong stat line of 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

For Minerva, Josie Chaddock was the lone player to score in double digits with 10. Bri Gassman scored just 3 points but finished with team-high 6 caroms.

The Lady Lions began the season with a 3-1 mark but have since won just once in their last four games. Minerva will welcome Salem on Saturday (1:30 pm). West Branch will return home on Saturday to take on Louisville.
