YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – South Side Youngstown business owners came together Wednesday in support of one another and the community.
The South Avenue Business Association held its first meeting at the Metro Assembly Church.
Those participating includeD First Energy, Coca-Cola and Walgreens along with several other businesses and non-profit groups.
The group took the opportunity to talk about the issues they face and address concerns including the attempted robbery of Reema’s Fashion that ended in the fatal shooting of the store owner in November.
Association member William Duckworth said a big part of the meeting was to discuss safety and security.
“Then we will go back and meet with the mayor, the police chief, and city government and try to work through those issues,” Duckworth said.
The group is also planning its second “Clean Sweep” event to help better develop the area. Other community projects are also in the works.
