Trumbull County considers digital blueprints for schools

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Improving school safety was the topic Wednesday at a meeting in Warren.

The owners of Foremost Safety Solutions out of Macedonia, pitched their SOS product to Trumbull County Commissioners and several school officials.

The SOS system transforms regular blueprints into a digital color coded PDF file to make it easier for first responders to navigate large school buildings in an emergency.

The Trumbull County Educational Service Center installed the system at its building in Niles for $7,000.

“We are looking at other ways of safety for our students. The administrators and superintendents of Trumbull County are always looking at ways of collaborating with our safety forces to ensure the safety of our students,” said Trumbull County Superintendent Michael Hanshaw.

Commissioners plan to meet with the company again and include local law enforcement officials to determine how the system would work and benefit them if an emergency arises.
