Teens compete in rifle contest

Niles rifle competition

NILES, Ohio (WYTV) – A group of about 40 teens came together Saturday in Niles to put their rifle skills to the test.

During the daylong event, teams competed in an Olympic-style, co-ed shooting competition. The event was hosted by the Western Reserve Fish and Game Association.

Organizers say the girls generally do better than the boys.

“If the boys really, really work hard they can compete against the girls because the girls are better shots than the boys,” said Russ Evans of Hubbard.

There is another competition in Vienna. The scores from both events are added up and the teens with the highest scores advance to a tournament at the end of the season.
