YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Cardinal Mooney’s C.J. Amill has verbally committed to play college football at Lafayette, and FCS program.
Last season, Amill rushed for 719 yards and six touchdowns in eight games. He averaged 5.4 yards per carry, and 71.9 yards per game for the Cardinals in 2014. He also was a key contributor on special teams, averaging 16 yards per kickoff return, and 15 yards per punt return.
Defensively, he finished the season with a pair of interceptions.
“Lafayette is a great football program that continues to grow and get better each year. I would like to help it improve and make an impact,” said Amill.
For his career, Amill finished with nearly 2,100 yards and 21 touchdowns, and he is thrilled with his decision to play for the Leopards.
“I loved the campus, the coaches, and everyone on campus. It felt like I belonged there, and had a home feel to it. Plus, I get to receive an Ivy League education while playing D1 football. You can’t beat that,” Amill said.
Amill chose to play for Lafayette over Kentucky, Cincinnati, Akron, Colgate, Yale, Kent State, Fordham, Georgetown, and Holy Cross.
