BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV)-Bo Pelini was the special guest speaker and Springfield’s Mark Schuler won the Byrd Giampetro Player of the Year Scholarship at the annual Curbstone Coaches football banquet.

Pelini said to the crowd that he is proud to be back in the Valley and that he has been hitting the recruiting trail hard for his first class at YSU.

Schuler was awarded a $1,000 scholarship and posts a 4.0 GPA.

Other finalist for the top award were Joe Alessi (South Range), Joe Batcho (Champion), Michael John Bell III (Howland), Nick Ferguson (Mineral Ridge), Lucas Hitchcock (Jefferson), Cameron Ifft (McDonald), Chris Inskeep (Lowellville), Brian Spence (Girard), and Adam Wollet (Poland).
