CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) — Despite the icy conditions outside, local demolition crews said they’ll make fairly quick work on an old furniture store, making way for some new development.
Workers started tearing down the old Goldstein’s showroom at the corner of Route 224 and Tippecanoe Road in Canfield on Tuesday morning.
Recently, the furniture store’s owners moved to another spot in Boardman and this location was purchased by Cortland Banks for use as the corporation’s 13th branch in the area, and the third in Mahoning County.
“There will be an approximately 5,000-square foot branch in the front, and eventually some sort of tenancy behind The branch will be a full service branch; retail, commercial lending, mortgage lending and wealth management,” said Lance Morrison of Cortland Banks.
Workers said the 30-year-old building should be completely taken-down and removed within the week.
They’ve also indicated that ground could be broken for the new project in the next couple months with completion expected by the end of the year.
