Struthers man gets 3 yrs probation in homicide sentencing

Mathew Alexander in court

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Struthers man received his sentencing Tuesday for his part in the shooting death of his roommate last April.

Mathew Alexander received 3 years probation and must perform 200 hours of community service after pleading guilty to reckless homicide.

The victim was Matthew Molnar. A witness told police she heard arguing, then two gunshots before Alexander fled the apartment in his car.

Alexander was prepared to argue that the homicide was done in self-defense if the case went to trial, according to Mahoning Co. Prosecutor Paul Gains.
