Hermitage bus driver injured in crash

SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WYTV) – A school bus driver from Sharon was injured in a bus crash in Butler County on Wednesday.

The 67-year-old driver from the Hermitage School District had to be cut out of his bus after it slammed into a tanker truck, according to police. He was flown to Allegheny General Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.

The accident happened around noon on U.S. Route 422 in Summit Township. The Hermitage school bus was being contracted out to the Indiana School District and was headed to an orchestra event at Hickory High School in Hermitage when the crash occurred.

Four students on board from the Indiana School District were taken to the hospital. No students from Hermitage were on the bus, according to the superintendent.
