Mooney’s Kennedy, Anderson sign with YSU

Zak Kennedy and DJ Anderson: YSU football signing

Youngstown, OH (WYTV) – Cardinal Mooney seniors Zak Kennedy and DJ Anderson signed their national letters of intent to play football at Youngstown State University Wednesday.

As a kicker his senior season, Kennedy made 7 of 11 field goals with a long of 46 yards. Kennedy also averaged 34 yards per punt.

“I love the city and love my family, and it’s going to be great to be playing in the atmosphere of Youngstown,” said Kennedy. “We’ve had a couple meetings so far, and everyone respects [Coach Pelini] and we’re looking forward to a good year.”

Anderson committed as a walk-on to YSU after being injured most of his senior season. As a receiver, he caught 4 receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown in his senior campaign.

“I can’t even explain it, I’m just blessed,” said Anderson.  “It’s an honor to be playing here at YSU. It’s very exciting to be playing at home. I grew up here, so I’ll have a lot of support at YSU.
