WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – The two people in charge of the Paradise Bar in Warren have agreed to look into new security arrangements after three men were shot and one suffered a laceration inside the establishment early Saturday morning.
The Paradise Bar will close temporarily while its permit holder and bar manager discuss a security plan, which could include hiring guards, putting in new lights outside the building, or changing the hours it is open.
A mother and son who live 100 yards from the bar met with council members Thursday to air their grievances, saying they are tired of fights and shootings they say stem from the Paradise Bar.
“It’s been a hazard, I think, for the community — especially on the north end of Warren — for a long time,” said Brian Kacsandi, a Youngstown State University student who grew up in a house near the bar, which has had several owners in his lifetime.
Brian’s mother Susanne was convinced to talk to city council after her daughter, who lives in Florida, saw a news story about the shootings that occurred Saturday. She thinks such incidents are hurting the city’s reputation.
