Sebring man charged with hitting child with wooden board

SEBRING, Ohio (WYTV) – Police arrested a Sebring man Wednesday after a grand jury indicted him last Thursday for child endangering.

According to Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor Dawn Cantalamessa, investigators believe Jason Laney, 33, beat his child with a wooden board.

The school district called authorities after seeing bruises on the child. Upon being interviewed, Laney confessed to the beating, saying he snapped, according to Cantalamessa.

A grand jury indicted Laney on Jan. 29. Laney is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, Feb. 10, according to online court records.
