YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A pair of agencies in Mahoning County are joining forces and representatives of both groups said their clients will receive better service because of it.
Leaders with the Mental Health Board and Alcohol and Drug Treatment Board told Commissioners Thursday morning they are merging and forming what will be known as the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board.
The consolidation will allow clients suffering from both emotional disorders and substance addictions to receive the help they need from a single source.
“Where sometimes there will be funding for one area but not another. And this way we can work as a team together and we basically fund many of the same agencies. So it will reduce some duplication and the agencies will be working better together,” Duane Piccirilli of the Mahoning County Mental Health Board said.
Leaders said under the governor’s new budget proposal, funding will be available to help those with gambling addictions, which will permit the new agency to expand its services in the area.
