NILES, Ohio (WYTV) – Getting ready for school was goal Saturday at the inaugural Trumbull County Kindergarten Transition Fair.
Held at the Eastwood Mall, the day gave preschoolers a chance to board a real school bus, participate in many activities and even try out yoga.
The event was also designed to get parents ready to send their children off into the real world for the first time.
“Part of what we are doing is building relationships early between children, parents and the schools,” said Lori Kelly, early childhood health expert.
Kelly added that educational standards have changed, and kids need to be more prepared now than in the past. That includes knowing their numbers, letters and other basic concepts.
