Ohio Hidden Cash picks up where it left off

Hidden Cash Ohio in Austintown

MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio (WYTV) – The hidden-cash craze that swept the nation and then northeast Ohio during the summer of 2014 is making a comeback, according to recent posts on a Facebook page associated with the movement.

Starting last year, the unnamed administrator of the Ohio Hidden Cash Facebook page began leaving clues to the location of a number of keys that could open a box filled with cash. Those who found the keys received a special clue about the location of the box.

That same administrator posted two clues on the same Facebook page Sunday, apparently in a continuation of last year’s game. About an hour and a half after the first clue was posted, someone found the first key, which was located between Boardman-Canfield Rd. and Mahoning Ave., according to the page.

According to a post on the page, each key comes with a code that can be scanned with a smartphone. The key opens a box, whose contents are not being revealed beforehand, that will be hidden after all of the keys have been found.

The page’s administrator originally promised 25 keys in total and said that Sunday’s was number 24.

“Be safe, have fun and be awesome to each other,” a post on the Facebook page said.
