Sharon FD: 14 cats die in blaze

14 cats die in Sharon fire

SHARON, Pa. (WYTV) – Fourteen cats died in a house fire Monday morning in Sharon, according to Sharon Fire Department Chief Robert Fiscus.

The Sharon and Farrell Fire Departments helped put out the fire, which broke out at 666 Spencer Ave. around 10:30 a.m. in Sharon. Fiscus said the majority of the fire was contained in kitchen, although there was heat and water damage throughout the house.

Twenty-seven cats live in the house. The fire department rescued seven and found 14 dead, with six still missing, according to Fiscus.

Fiscus said that an electrical problem caused the fire and that the house is salvageable.

The homeowner was not hurt and will be staying with family, according to Fiscus, who also said she did not have fire insurance.
