Starting 5 Recap: Feb. 9


It’s getting down to crunch time with tournament time right around the corner for local basketball standouts.  Tonight we take a look back at several outstanding performances from last week.  They are contenders for the Starting Five.

Cardinal Mooney’s Jaclyn Yankle scored her 1,000th career point in a loss to Canton Central Catholic on Saturday.  Meanwhile, Lowellville’s Paolo DePasquale became the twelfth player in Rockets’ history to tally 1,000 points in a win over McDonald.

Ursuline’s Mark Hughes lit up the scoreboard with 22 points against Cardinal Mooney, while Farrell’s Malik Miller racked up 29 points against Kennedy Catholic…to help the Steelers clinch a Region title.

And last but certainly not least, Hickory’s Brandi Beader tallied 24 points in a blowout victory over Titusville.
