YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Salvation Army and a local foot care clinic teamed up Wednesday to make sure everyone stays warm this winter.
A shoe and coat giveaway was held at the Youngstown Salvation Army on Glenwood Avenue. More than 500 pairs of new shoes and numerous coats were made available to anyone who needs them.
Ankle & Foot Care Centers collected and donated the shoes. The United Way donated the coats.
Organizers said the event could not have come at a better time.
“It comes at a very good time because of the cold, the frigid temperatures we have had the last couple of weeks. This comes in quite handy,” Major Elijah Kahn of the Salvation Army said.
Kahn said anyone wanting to donate winter clothing can contact the Salvation Army.
